LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Thanks to DNA, Louisville Metro Police believe they have solved a home burglary in which guns, computers, games and cash with among the things taken.
The burglary happened June 27, 2013. An arrest warrant charges Jason R. Mayo, 35, entered the home by breaking a back door window. Mayo is accused of taking three guns, a Mac Book, iPhone, Wii gaming system, a watch and $200 in cash. In total, more than $5,000 in cash and merchandise was taken.
Police collected blood samples left at the scene and sent them to Kentucky State Police. On April 1, KSP informed Metro police the DNA matched Mayo.
Officers arrested Mayo June 28 on one count of burglary. He was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections. Mayo is also being held on a bail jumping charge and several outstanding bench warrants.
