Vigil held for Hardin Co. man critically injured 8 days after losing sister in suspected DUI crash

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - A community is praying for ayoung man who suffered life-threatening injuries in an ATV crash early Mondaymorning, just eight days after his younger sister was killed by a driver whopolice believe was drunk.

Hundreds of people gathered at Valley Creek BaptistChurch to pray for the recovery of Brice Taylor, 20.

Taylor hit a deer, flipped his four-wheeler and suffereda head injury around 12:30 a.m. Monday on Springfield Road at Valley CreekRoad. Taylor's family said he was in a medically-induced coma followingsurgery.

"There's not a way that anyone who knew Brice wouldn't behere if they could be here," Brice Taylor's cousin, Braden Borders said. "Itwould mean the absolute world to him to know that all these people love him somuch."

Friends and family membersdescribed Brice Taylor as funny and honest, a role model to his fellow baseballplayers and especially to his younger cousin.

"He taught me so much about the right things to do in life and the wrongthings," Borders explained.

During the service, therewere nothing but prayers for his recovery.

"I hope he pulls out sobad because he's such a good person," Brice's close friend, Lucas Whitesaid. "But I know he will. He's a fighter."

Some wondered how they stillhad any tears left as they prayed for a second member of the Taylor family.

Taylor's 17-year-old sister Brianna Taylor died June 22in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Patriot Parkway and DeckardSchool Road in Elizabethtown, 17 days after graduating from Elizabethtown HighSchool. Investigators say Michael Hilton, 34, was driving drunk when he slammedinto the car Brianna was driving, killing her instantly and landing 18-year-oldMickayla Harig in critical condition. Doctors are hopeful about Harig'scondition, but they say it remains touch and go.

Hilton is charged with murder and aggravated DUI. He isbeing held on $1 million bond.
