POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) - The eastbound lanes of I-64 near Poseyville re-opened shortly after 8:00 p.m. Monday following an accident involving an Indiana State Trooper and another vehicle.

State Police say Trooper Wes Alexander was driving his patrol car west on I-64 with his emergency lights activated.

For unknown reasons, Trooper Alexander's car left the road, crossed the median into the eastbound lanes of I-64, and hit a car driven by Sherri Jones of Louisville.

Both cars ended up off the south side of the road.

State Police say 63-year-old Jones was taken by helicopter to Deaconess Hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries. Her husband, 64-year-old John Jones, was taken by ambulance to Deaconess where he is also being treated for serious injuries.

29-year-old Trooper Alexander is being treated for a head injury at Deaconess. His injury is non-life threatening.

The eastbound lanes of I-64 at the Poseyville exit were closed for approximately four-hours while troopers investigated the crash.
