Governor signs cancer drug bill

There is some financial help for some cancer patients in Arizona.

Gov. Jan Brewer signed a new bill which will require the state to have insurance companies pick up part of the tab for oral cancer drugs.

Cancer patient Pat Elliott said the bill is huge for her, "as someone who would be dead if not for oral chemotherapy and the ability to take my medicine every day.

"I am truly grateful for everyone, including the governor who signed the bill today,  for seeing the need and passing this law," Elliott said.

The bill goes into effect in January 2016.
