Deputies in St. John the Baptist Parish are investigating the parish fourth homicide of 2014.
On Wednesday at 8:21 a.m., deputies were called to the 1900 block of Jasper Lane in LaPlace, where they found an unresponsive man with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim's identity is being withheld until family members are notified.

Fifty cases of Shigella were confirmed in Hardin and Nelson counties. The majority of the cases were found in daycare-aged children.
Officer Brad Shouse was rushed to University Hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot following Wednesday's incident.
