KSP Commissioner, Colonel hiking Grand Canyon to raise memorial funds

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Two Kentucky State Police officials are putting on their hiking boots in an effort to raise money to build a trooper memorial.

The Trooper Project will include a seven and a half foot tall bronze statue in Frankfort to honor fallen troopers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

Commissioner Rodney Brewer and Lieutenant Colonel Jack Miniard will hike the Grand Canyon from rim to rim in August asking supporters to donate $1 to the project for their effort.

The two are donating their vacation time and using their own money to go on the trip and will provide updates via social media on their 25 mile trek.
