LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The family and friends of Brice Taylor shared his passing over social media Saturday.
According to a Facebook page maintained by those closest to him, he died early Saturday morning. Rita Taylor, a Jefferson County Deputy Coroner, confirmed Brice passed away just after 1 a.m. from traumatic brain injury caused by an ATV accident.
"I don't think anyone could ever imagine going through something like this," the family Pastor, Scott Kerr said.
Friday evening a post was shared saying he no longer had brain activity, and his family plans to donate his organs. He was being cared for at University Hospital in Louisville.
Brice Taylor, 20, was critically injured in an ATV accident when he hit a deer June 30, only about a week after his sister, Brianna Taylor, 17, died in an accident with a suspected drunk driver in Hardin County on her way home from a fishing trip. She had just graduated from high school.
"It's that faith that's really helping them stay strong because without it, I mean, I think they would crumble," Kerr said.
The tragedy is perpetuated by timing. The sibling's birthdays were coming up, a few days apart.
"When they should be celebrating birthdays, they are celebrating the loss of them. It's just so crazy to think of the timing and the circumstances," Kerr said.
A few days after Brianna's death, Brice said, "We think to ourselves, why, why did it happen? It's got to be for a better reason."
Those questions will linger as a family mourns again.
The community has rallied around the Taylor family, holding prayer vigils and fundraisers to help with the medical bills.
Funeral arrangements are still pending.
