LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man who fled from officers after they responded to an assault in progress call.
Officers were called to the 3600 block of W. Jefferson around 6 p.m. July 4 about a man assaulting his girlfriend in the street. Witnesses told police Rickey Raynordo Moon was dragging the woman by her hair and shooting at her with a gun as the woman screamed for help.
When police arrived, Moon, 49, of Louisville, fled on foot through several yards, including one that was full of children in the 3600 block of W. Market. Police said that’s where Moon pitched a bag that had his ID, along with a bag full of .45 caliber ammo and a 9mm handgun.
Police finally arrested Moon after he ran into another Market Street home and was brought out at gunpoint following a search by police.
Moon was booked on charges of fleeing or evading police, disorderly conduct, tampering with physical evidence and criminal trespassing. He is being held on a multitude of pother charges, including, engaging in organized crime, along with drug and traffic charges.
The report says officers were unable to find the woman Moon assaulted, but they hope she will come forward after learning of his arrest.
