LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville man is facing charges of endangering a child after the two-year-old was found outside and he was found passed out with a needle in his arm.

Around 5:40 p.m. July 5, Louisville Metro Police were called by a neighbor in the 6200 block of Fegenbush Lane who saw the toddler sitting outside by himself crying. A responding officer said the boy appeared to be dirty and was sweating after being out in the 82 degree heat.

After the child was placed in a police car, officers knocked on the doors and windows of the house where the child was found trying to locate his parents. Through a window, police saw William J. Wright, 29, inside the house. Wright, who appeared to be unconscious and unresponsive, had a needle in his arm.

Officers had to force their way inside to check on Wright. After waking him, Wright was taken outside to be checked by EMS.

During a search of the home, police found a pill bottle with unreadable writing and four unknown pills. They also located a container with crystal meth on Wright.

Wright was arrested on two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of endangering the welfare of a minor.

The child was taken to the Home of the Innocents.
