LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A woman in her 70s died after she was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross Dixie Highway Tuesday night, according to Louisville Metro police.
MetroSafe had originally reported the accident, which happened at 10:30 p.m., involved a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell said once officers arrived on scene a preliminary investigation showed the woman was trying to cross Dixie Highway near Greenwood Road when she was hit by a yellow Hyundai Accent that was traveling northbound.
The woman was taken to University of Louisville Hospital where she died from her injuries.
Mitchell said the woman appeared to be wearing dark clothing and was not on a crosswalk at the time of the accident.
No charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the vehicle.
