LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Sen. Mitch McConnell says he has a solution to deal with thousands of unaccompanied minors crossing the U.S. border.
During a Louisville appearance, the Republican Senate Minority Leader said the fix is simple - secure the border, treat the children humanly and send them back immediately. Unless that's done McConnell says the problem will go unabated.
“The message is probably going out, my friends, all over the world,” said McConnell, “if you’re in an unhappy situation and you're not a Mexican or Canadian, just get your kid in here somehow and they'll be here forever.”
McConnell went on to criticize President Barack Obama's request for $3.7 billion in emergency funding for the border crisis. With that money McConnell said it looks like the children will be here for quite some time.
