LMPD officer, 2 detectives injured in multi vehicle accident

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville Metro police officer and two detectives were taken to an area hospital after a four vehicle crash in the Clifton neighborhood, according to Louisville Metro Police.

The crash happened around 7:10 p.m. Friday in the 1800 block of Frankfort Avenue near Pope Street. Police said a Chevrolet Impala ran into a Hyundai Accent, which then hit a Taurus driven by an officer and caused the Taurus to hit a Ford Edge that was stopped at a red light.

The man in his 20s who was driving the Impala, a woman in her 40s who was driving the Hyundai, an on duty officer and two on duty detectives in the Taurus and the four passengers who were in the Ford Edge were all checkout by emergency crews at the scene.

The officer and two detectives were then transported to Baptist Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Everyone else involved in the crash was treated and released by EMS.

The driver of the Impala was cited for failure to produce insurance following the crash.
