LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Escorted by officers from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, a group of motorcyclists held a fundraising ride Saturday to raise money for the families of police officers killed in the line of duty.

The Concerns of Police Survivors, or COPS, Motorcycle Run is in its 11th year, organized by the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club.

Sherry Bryant with the COPS organization lost her husband in 2003 when he was killed in the line of duty. She said she wanted to give back after the organization helped her in the wake of his death.

The money raised helps to pay for a number of events, many of which are designed to help survivors connect with others who have lost their loved ones - connections which can help survivors heal.

“You know you’re not alone,” Bryant said.
