LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man has been arrested for passing counterfeit bills while attending a baseball game at Louisville Slugger Field.

An arrest report says Darren Dewun Butler, 39, was trying to use the phony bill at a concession stand during the Louisville Bats game on July 11. After being spotted by an officer Butler tried to leave the ballpark, but was followed and stopped by police.

While talking with police Butler told officers they could search him. When they did, police found three counterfeit bills – one $50 bill and two $20 bills. The $20 bills each had the same serial number. A check of bills accepted at the stadium that night revealed two additional counterfeit $50 bills with the same serial number as the first one.

Butler was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections for criminal possession of a forged instrument. Police also learned that Butler was wanted on outstanding warrants from Florida.
