WEBSTER CO., KY (WFIE) -

Webster County unveiled a new $200,000 dog pound facility Monday, a project that has been years in the making.

The new facility was just completed a few days ago and has the ability to house over 50 dogs. Construction on the facility began in March, after weather concerns pushed the start date back by a few months.

Officials say the old facility was too small and worn down to use properly.

"We are looking forward to the years ahead and we have a good facility, we have a good location, we have a good veterinarian to help us and we're set. We're ready to go," said Jim Townsend, Judge Executive for Webster County.

Webster County has also hired a new dog warden.

"Yeah it's a new fresh start for all of us. A new dog warden with a brand new facility to house the animals in. It was just a fresh new start for all of us," says Webster Dog Warden Aaron Richmond.

Dog pound officials say they are open for anyone looking to adopt a dog or puppy, and you can contact the shelter by calling 270-639-7034.
