OLDHAM COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – A new pedestrian a bicycle bridge is now open in Oldham County.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Monday for the bridge that goes over Interstate 71 near Exit 17 in Buckner.

Officials said the bridge provides a safer route between LaGrange, Buckner and Crestwood and plays into a bigger picture for the county's Greenway Route.

That future plans include a continuous route from LaGrange to Pewee Valley and eventually connect with the Louisville Loop at the Jefferson County Line.

The bridge was paid for with federal transportation dollars.
