Landlord shot, killed during alleged dispute over electric bill identified

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A landlord who was shot and killed in the Buechel neighborhood Monday afternoon has been identified.

According to Jefferson County Coroner's Office, James Scott Tolle, 49, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, died of a single gunshot wound after he was shot in the 4600 block of Fegenbush Lane.

Monday night, officers arrested one of Tolle’s tenants, Anthony Jecker, in connection to his death.

Lt. Todd Kessinger said a dispute between Jecker and Tolle started after Jecker was accused of not paying his portion of the electric bill and his electricity was shut off. Kessigner said the fight continued to escalate throughout the day until the shooting occurred.

An arrest report states following the shooting Jecker disposed of the gun. Police said the weapon was recovered and Jecker admitted to his involvement in the shooting.

Jecker appeared in court Tuesday morning where he plead not guilty to charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Jecker is being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $500,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear back in court on July 25.
