LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A domestic assault suspect picked up an additional charge when he made a phone call from jail telling the victim not to appear in court, police said.

Ebay Jones, 37, is now charged with tampering with a witness. Police say he called a friend from jail and the friend then used three-way calling to call the victim. According to court records, Jones repeatedly told the victim not to come to court in an attempt to influence the outcome of the case. Police say the call was recorded.

Jones was originally charged with fourth-degree assault for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Tampering with a witness is a felony.
