LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - There's a new act at Louisville's Forecastle Festival that's taking center stage.

Bourbon experts serve the droves of people anxious to give something new a shot.

"I want to see them happy, and it's their first experience so make their first experience the best experience," Four Roses bartender Robert Robinson said.

The Bourbon Lodge was added in 2010 under a 30-foot tent. Now that tent is five times longer and even has air conditioning.

"It's like your stepping into a different dimension,” local business owner Summer Auerbach said. “It doesn't feel like you're at a music festival."

There are 25 varieties of bourbon from seven different brands. Local chefs are on hand conducting cooking demonstrations. All recipes include the crowd's favorite ingredient.

"You can make anything with bourbon,” Terra Nelson of Bourbon Line told the crowd. ”Chocolate, delicious with bourbon. Citrus and bourbon, fantastic," she said.

To enter the Bourbon Lodge, it costs a minimum of 10 tickets or $10. For $20, you get a membership and a handy bourbon mug. Each drink varies in cost.

But it's these tickets that are carving out this music festival as Kentucky proud.

"You can go to a lot of places and get music, but you can't go everywhere and get bourbon," Forecastle spokesperson Holly Weyler said.
