Matthews was arrested as a fugitive wanted in the homicide of Adam Gregg, a taxi driver whose body was found in a driveway near Goshen, Kentucky on July 17, 2014.

The suspect was driving Gregg’s car at the time of the arrest. Troopers were made aware Matthews might be in the area late Saturday by authorities from Kentucky. Oldham County Police released a statement saying they issued a warrant for his arrest and through the cooperation of several state, local and federal authorities determined he had possibly fled to New York or Canada.

Matthews is charged with murder and theft by unlawful taking. He is jailed in Watertown where he will be arraigned, being held with no bail as a fugitive from justice.
