LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man who led police on a chase across state lines was taken into custody Tuesday morning, according to MetroSafe.

MetroSafe dispatchers said the chase began in Jeffersonville, Indiana and ended across the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky on Interstate 65 near Interstate 264/Watterson Expressway just before midnight.

Law enforcement officials say the chase began as a traffic stop after the suspect failed to yield. The suspect was driving a blue Chevrolet 4x4 truck. At some point, one of the wheels came off, leaving him driving on just three wheels. The chase lasted about an hour, with the suspect fleeing through various streets and neighborhoods. No one was injured during the chase.

Around 12:45 a.m., the chase shot up I-65 southbound across the Kennedy where Louisville Metro Police picked up the chase. It continued down I-65 southbound and came to a stop at I-65 southbound just past the Watterson. The suspect was taken into custody by LMPD around 1:00 a.m.

He was transported to University Hospital to be checked out when police saw him biting himself.

The identity of the suspect has not been released.
