Parole officer accused of violating ethics, having relationship with parolee

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An employee of the Kentucky Department of Corrections is accused of violating the rules by having a relationship with an offender.

A criminal summons says John Lile, 44, worked as a probation and parole officer. From April 4, 2013 through May 24, 2014, Lile continued a relationship with a parolee. Though the parolee wasn’t under Lile’s immediate supervision, Lile never reported the violation, which would have affected the offender.

Police say Lile accompanied the parolee to a night club and even paid some of the offender’s cell phone bills. He is also accused of accessing the parolee’s records without reason.

Both Lile and the offender admitted to having a romantic relationship in the past, but the relationship is now platonic. They communicated via Facebook and even have photos taken together.

Lile is being charged with official misconduct and unlawful access to a computer.
