Part of U.S. 42 closed after officer-involved accident

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Officers from the Prospect Police Department were involved in a three vehicle traffic accident on U.S. 42. that has closed a section of the road during the afternoon commute.

The accident was reported 4:52 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of 9100 block of U.S. 42. near Prospect City Hall. According to Lt. Col. Carl Yates of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, two Prospect units and a pickup truck were involved in the accident. The sheriff's office provides dispatch services for Prospect police.

In addition to Metro EMS, Louisville Metro police and Harrods Creek firefighters were called to the scene. Yates said the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Eastbound traffic on U.S. 42 is being diverted onto Timber Ridge Drive. Westbound traffic has not been affected by the accident.
