This stay of unusually warm October weather has a countdown to cool. Highs will stay in the 70s and even reach to just shy of record 80s on Saturday before it all comes to a close. The end of the warmth begins late Sunday evening as showers sweep across the Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. This late weekend system will be just the start to a cooler pattern next week; that will bring our coolest temperatures of the season so far.

PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -

An alligator was spotted in a ditch along Hull PrairieRoad Thursday - an unusual sight in Perrysburg.

Paul Garland lives right across the street from where thegator was found. He owns an exotic reptile business and has experience handlingthem. He was able to wrangle the alligator and remove it from a ditch.

"He was kind of tucked behind some bushes, so youstart by touching his tail a little bit, get him to move out, and when it movesout, use a stick or a hat, to tap him on the head and get him riled up a littlebit, till he gets in a good position, and grab his tail," Garland said.

He says this gator was small enough that he could lift itup by its tail and hold its mouth shut. He says he's never heard of a situationquite like this in the area, and he's guessing someone may have hadit as a pet and let it go.

"Alligators don't just swim from Florida toOhio, so it was probably someone's pet and got too big for them tohandle, and they just dumped it, not necessarily there, but somewherein the river system," he said.

The Department of Agriculture says the gator is nowheaded to a sanctuary in Columbus.
