LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Sewer and drainage bills are likely going up on Friday.
The Metropolitan Sewer District board approved a 5.5 percent rate increase at its meeting on Monday, July 28.
For a typical household using 5,000 gallons of water per month, the sewer portion of the bill would rise from $36.90 to $38.92 per month, the drainage portion from $7.28 to $7.68.
The increase is slightly less than the previous year's 5.8 percent increase.
Since 2006, MSD has raised rates annually as part of a consent decree with the federal government. The consent decree goes through 2024.
