Iconic restaurant closing doors after 50 years

CLARKSVILLE, IN (WAVE) – Moving locations and a harsh winter are two elements the owner of Lancaster’s Café is citing as reasons he is shutting the doors.

According to News and Tribune, the cafeteria moved from its New Albany location to Clarksville last year after 50 years of business in Clarksville. Lancaster’s owner Troy Lancaster says the combination of the move and a harsh winter hurt business to the point they will not be able to recover.

He says it’s hard to get the same kind of following in Clarksville among so many other restaurants and after such a long tradition in New Albany.

Though closed for now, Lancaster says he does not rule out opening another restaurant in the future.
