CARROLL COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - A strange serious of attempted robberies in one day has investigators searching for the two men behind the elaborate plot.

According to a news release, Kentucky State Police at Post 5 in Campbellsburg are investigating five known instances of attempted theft from convenience stores that happened on Saturday, July 26. Three attempts were made in Carroll County, one in Trimble County and the fifth in Gallatin County.

In each occurrence, police said, an unknown man called either the store or entered the store in person requesting information from clerks about the store's owners and/or managers. Sometime later, an unknown man would call the store posing as either the store manager or a district manager and explain that someone has been stealing money from the store. The caller instructs the clerk to place all the cash from the store's safe and registers in a money bag and either give it to a person coming into the store to pick it up or bring it to the parking lot where a person will take the money bag from the clerk.

Police say violence has not occurred or been threatened during any of these incidents.

The first suspect is described as a white man in his mid-20s. He's about 5'10" tall, has short brown hair, a brown mustache and goatee and has an unknown tattoo on his right arm. He was last seen wearing a Cincinnati Reds baseball hat, a blue t-shirt, blue jean shorts and red and white shoes.

The second suspect is about 30 years old. He's about 6' tall, has short black or dark brown hair and a brown goatee and mustache. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black and gray camouflage shorts, a silver necklace and black gym shoes.

KSP released an additional image of one of the suspects, taken by surveillance camera at the Ameristop in Greendale, Indiana on Monday, July 14 just before 10 p.m. Police said the man was successfull in stealing almost $5,000 from the store.

Pictures were also released showing a vehicle that police said has been definitively linked to the suspects. It appears to be a white or silver Cadillac Deville. The vehicle photographs were captured at the truck stop at Exit 62 in Gallatin County while the suspects were filling it with gas.

Witnesses in Carroll County told police the suspects may have been in a blue minivan and traveling with a white female with bright pink hair.
