WASHINGTON, D.C. (WAVE) – After attending an EPA listens session on the recently proposed changes to greenhouse gas requirements in power plants, the Senate Minority Leader called the session a sham.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said thousands of jobs have been lost in the past few years and has put eastern Kentucky in a literal depression.

McConnell and other congressmen met to discuss how those greenhouse gas requirements would hurt the coal industry.

McConnell faces Democrat challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes in the November General Election. Both have focused a large part of their campaign on the coal industry.
