Louisville, KY (WAVE) They've come from all over the midwest to Jeffersontown's Skyview Park, looking for hardware. The 2014 Ohio Valley Regional 9U Baseball Tournament is making its second stop at the park. It's the most prestigious tournament for nine year old players. "For these nine year olds, this is their World Series. It's as big as the Little League World Series," said tournament director, Tom Medford.
Now, while these kids are only nine years old, they're well aware of what they're playing for. Some of these teams playing for a shot at history. The host team, Jeffersontown is looking to turn two pages in history, a first ever regional championship, and the first host team to ever win the tournament. "We started playing baseball here since 1952 here in the city of Jeffersontown. There's never been a regional champion," commented Jeffersontown manager, Chris Rader.
Who knows? A hit here or there, and we could see history in the making.
