Cincinnati police said a man was killed early Friday in Oakley after crashing his car into a utility pole.
James Peyton, 67, was driving a 2009 Scion XD east on Brotherton Road when he suffered an "apparent medical event," police said in a media release. Peyton went left of center and hit a pole near the 3300 block of Brotherton Road.
Peyton was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in critical condition, police said. He died from his injuries while being treated at the hospital.
Authorities said Peyton was wearing a seatbelt. Excessive speed and impairment did not appear to be factors in the crash.
The Cincinnati Police Department Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the crash. Any witnesses are asked to contact officers at (513) 352-2514.
