HODGENVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The mayor of Hodgensville was injured after falling off a ladder in the same place as a police investigation.

When police responded to a reported break in at the LaRue County fairgrounds last weekend they found a pile of city property that was not supposed to be there. Around that same time Hodgensville Mayor Terry Cruse had to go to the hospital after falling off a ladder at those fairgrounds.

Hodgenville Police Chief Steven Johnson said Cruse, who is currently under fire for allegedly misusing public funds, was apparently doing some painting and fell.

Johnson also said he does not know if it was stolen or was property that someone just forgot to return.

Hodgensville police are investigating the incident.
