LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An ongoing lawsuit an area hospital a charity has gained new traction as the Kentucky attorney general steps in.

Kosair Charities alleges money they've given to Kosair Children's Hospital has really gone toward Norton Healthcare's other unsuccessful hospital branches.

The charity's legal counsel says it did not give money to the hospital for it to be used somewhere else and not on the children.

Wednesday Attorney General Jack Conway announced he is stepping in with the case. Don Cox, Kosair Chairites' legal counsel, says Conway's involvement is a major development because he is the man in charge of regulating charities.

“That is different than our lawsuit,” said Cox. “Our lawsuit was a dispute between two people. Now it's a dispute between the charity cop and a charity.

In a previous statement Norton called the charities' claims of misusing funds "baseless."
