LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A racist message was painted on the fence of one woman's home in the Schnitzelburg neighborhood this week, but neighbors say they're not painting over it until they make some noise first.

Members of the Schnitzelberg neighborhood rallied together Friday to denounce the child-like graffiti drawn on Sharon Hurley's white picket fence. Drawn in what looks like black permanent marker, it spells out racist and anti-Semitic messages.

Hurley says her family has lived in that house for 80 years and never had a problem and this sort of behavior cannot be tolerated.

“Be reporting and very much aware of it,” said Hurley. “This is not just something we can ignore paint over, cover up with whitewash , this cannot be done, we must be aware of it.”

Other neighborhood members and community activists attended the news conference to encourage whoever did it to turn themselves in.
