TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo Police are looking for the person who broke into a west Toledo garage, hot-wired a car, and stole it.

The owner, who lives on the 3700 block of Maxwell, say it was an older car that he spent years working on. As much as he hates to see it gone, the family is also upset because they were home while the theft occurred.

According to the police report, someone forced open the locked garage, broke a car window to get into the locked car, then hot-wired it and took off – all while the family was in the house and unaware.

The car, a 1984 Chevy Caprice, had a license plate reading 956 YNQ. The owner says he thinks someone had been watching his house to know that they had the car in the garage.

If anyone sees this car or has information that could help police, they are asked to call Crime Stopper at 419-255-1111.
