The first day of the World's Longest Outdoor Sale has gone smoothly even though it started on the same day as school.
The boulevard of bargains stretches 700 miles from Noccalula Falls Park in Gadsden to Addison, Michigan.
So far things have gone smoothly, even with two schools on the yard sale's route. Some vendors did say opening morning attendance was a little off.
Visitors are expected to pick up as the week goes on.
Etowah County Chief Deputy Michael Barton says he's expecting a major traffic situation Friday afternoon when school lets out and people get off work and head to the sale.
The Sheriff's Office will have its mobile command center near Highland School with deputies working by motorcycle, bicycle and car.
Some Gadsden Police officers were also seen near Mitchell Elementary on Thursday working on bicycle.
