Bank customer stops attempted robbery

NEW CASTLE, KY (WAVE) - Kentucky State Police said a man charged with robbery was pinned to the wall by a customer at a bank until police arrived and arrested him.

According to a release from KSP, 21-year-old Corey Washburn was in line at the United Citizens Bank in New Castle on Saturday while a large cash transaction took place in front of him. Police said Washburn reached over the customer’s shoulder, grabbed the cash and tried to run. The customer grabbed Washburn and held him against a wall until officers arrived, KSP said.

Washburn is charged with first-degree robbery. He is being held at the Shelby County Detention Center.
