Man used knife in robbery attempt of cab driver

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man who attempted to rob a cab driver.

An arrest report says the cab driver was parked at 4th Street and W. Jefferson around 2:15 p.m. Aug. 10 when a man came up to him and asked for money. The man then got into the cab, pulled out a large knife and swung it at the cabbie trying to stab him.

The cab driver was not injured and was able to get away.

People who witnessed the incident called police. Officers found their suspect, Tony Gene Wilson, 37, on the steps leading to the food court at Fourth Street Live!

Wilson is charged attempted robbery and wanton endangerment and remains in custody at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $5,000 bond. He is due back in court Aug. 21.
