NEAR ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (CNN) - The United States Coast Guard is always ready to help sailors and boaters in distress.
It's not very often they're called on to rescue sea life.
The Coast Guard dispatched a rescue team from Cape May to rescue a large sea turtle off the New Jersey coast.
A boater saw the animal struggling after it became trapped and tangled in fishing lines.
A Coast Guard crewman climbed in the water alongside the turtle, and carefully removed the knotted mess.
The sea turtle swam away safely after escaping the entangled lines.
