According to the arrest report, officers found an 8-year-old girl hiding in the attic of the home. She told them that a man came into the house and took her dad.

Officers located the van at the PNC Bank ATM on 4th and Oak Street. As they approached the van, Elijah Carter, 25, tried to flee on foot. Officers tased Carter.

Carter stated he broke into the home through a side window, demanded $200 and other property. He told the victim, the little's girl's father, that he was armed and that he would kill his two children.

Carter made the victim carry a flat screen TV out to the van and drive to the ATM to withdrawal $200 or he would kill the victim and his 6-year-old son.

During the burglary, Carter placed his hands around the boy's throat, causing redness and swelling. He forced the victim and his son to go to the bank, leaving the 8-year-old unattended.

Carter was arrested and charged with burglary, kidnapping and fleeing police.
