Jury duty phone scam reported in Williamson County

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office says a man is making phone calls pretending to be a detective in the criminal investigation division.

The man who claims to be named Detective Phillips leaves voicemails for residents and tells them they have failed to report for jury duty and will be arrested unless they buy a prepaid card and put money on it.

The sheriff's office says this is a scam and that they would never call anyone to ask for money for missing jury duty.

Officials say five incidents of this scam have been reported in the last few days.

Anyone who receives one of these calls is asked to call the sheriff's office at (615) 790-5550.
