LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police have charged a man with wounding a woman during a shooting earlier this month.

According to an arrest warrant, the shooting happened Aug. 4. Police said a woman saw the car of a female friend and assumed it was her friend driving it. When she sent a text message to her friend, the warrant says Delonte A. Richie, 21, of Louisville, the boyfriend of the woman the message was intended for, responded.

After agreeing to meet, the cars pulled the parking lot and both drivers got out of the vehicles. That's when police say Richie pulled a gun and started firing at the woman. As she attempted to get back into her car, the woman was hit in the foot by a bullet. She was able to drive away, but the vehicle was hit several times by gunfire sustaining more than $1,000 in damage.
