LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Impressive positives abound this month in Louisville.
Baptist Health Lexington and Baptist Health Louisville ranked #1 and #2 among Kentucky Hospitals, according to U.S. News and World Report magazine in its 25th annual review of the nation's hospitals.
The Commonwealth now has less than 12 percent of its residents without health coverage, down from more than 20 percent last year, thanks to the more than 400,000 people who signed up for insurance since the launch of its health exchange.
The new Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn soccer stadium at the University of Louisville opens with breathtaking response. The Lynn's contributed $5 million of the nearly $20 million cost of the stadium that is a showcase for the nation.
The philanthropy of Sam Swope continues, as he donates one million dollars to help fund a new treatment and rehab center for shelter pets that will be a national model. He has positively affected thousands of lives through the years with his generosity.
In an otherwise difficult month with overseas violence, unrest in parts of our country, and the sad news of the passing of Robin Williams, it is a help to remind ourselves that affirming actions do take place daily in our own backyard.
