“This is our heritage,” Grimes said. “This is our heart and soul of what keeps Kentucky going and literally growing in the right direction.”

Grimes wasn't the only politician at the breakfast, but they were focusing on Kentucky Agriculture instead of politics.

“It's also great to serve lamb sausage from Bourbon County to the patrons out here,” Attorney General and Governor candidate Jack Conway said.

“The farm community is the cornerstone of our economy it's the cornerstone of our heritage is built on the farm and these folks understand and we sort of celebrate that,” Governor Steve Beshear said.

“If you win the county fair you get to come to the state fair,” Agriculture Commissioner and Gubernatorial candidate James Comer said. “A lot of kids have worked very hard all year and if you get a chance to come and walk through the livestock barn and exhibition halls you'll get to see the best of what Kentucky has.”

The fair will run through August 24.
