3 men charged with murder in apartment shooting

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro police have charged three men with murder after a man was shot and killed at an apartment complex near Goldsmith Lane.

According to police, at 12:40 p.m. Thursday officers located Mohammad I. Jawad, 28, in the 1500 block of LaFontenay Court and took him into custody. Several hours later, at 8:30 p.m., Freddie Lee Downer Jr., 34, was arrested a police headquarters.

A third suspect, Raquan Carmichael, 24, was taken into custody Wednesday after he was identified by a witness.

Detectives believe the men illegally entered a unit of an apartment building in the 2000 block of Terril Lane and got into a fight with the victim, which led to the shooting around 12:10 a.m. Aug. 13.

Police have not released the name of the victim, but said he was a man in his 30s. Officers said Carmicael and Jawad lived in the block where the shooting occurred.

All three suspects are charged with murder and burglary.

    The mother of two-year-old William Roberts took her eyes off her son for a couple minutes Saturday afternoon, according to police. The toddler disappeared in a creek in Borden, Indiana around 230 p.m.
