Suspect charged in two drug store robberies

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville man has been arrested for the robberies of two drug stores that happened three days apart.

Samuel Lloyd-Sidle, 27, was arrested by Louisville Metro police detectives on Aug. 11. He is charged with robberies of two Walgreen's drug stores - one on Aug. 7 in the 4200 block of Shelbyville Road in St. Matthews and Aug. 10 in the 2300 block of Frankfort Avenue.

According to St. Matthews police, Lloyd-Sidle committed the first robbery when went to the front cash register of the 24 hour store around 5:30 a.m. Police said he placed a note on the counter which said he was armed and demanded money.

After getting the cash, Lloyd-Sidle started to leave the store when the store manager attempted to grab the note, which tore. The Louisville Metro Police forensics was able to obtain several latent prints which were identified as belonging to Lloyd-Sidle.

LMPD said the second robbery took place around 11:35 a.m. Aug. 10 when he again presented a note saying he was armed. In addition to cash, the note demanded pharmaceuticals. The arrest reports says Lloyd-Sidle has been stopped hours earlier by police wearing the same clothes he had on when committing the robbery.

Lloyd-Sidle is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on two counts of robbery. He was arrested after leaving Chenoweth Elementary School and surrendered peacefully to detectives. Dwight Mitchell, a LMPD spokesman, said the department's SWAT team was training in the area. Court records show he posted a $1,000 bond after that arrest and was released.

He was arrested by St. Matthews police Aug. 14 for the robbery in that city.  Bond has been set at $15,000 cash in that case. Lloyd-Sidle will be back in court Aug. 22.
