LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky Auditor Adam Edelen has proposed overhauling the board overseeing the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport.
The board has been in turmoil with the resignations of its chairman and vice chairman and questions about extravagant spending at conferences.
Edelen said Tuesday the airport's flawed governance structure hinders economic growth in northern Kentucky and southern Ohio.
He proposes an 11-member board for the airport in northern Kentucky, with eight appointments by Kentucky officials and three by Ohio leaders.
The Kenton County judge-executive would choose three members. Judge-executives in Boone and Campbell counties in Kentucky would choose two and one, respectively. Kentucky's governor would make two appointments.
In Ohio, the governor, Cincinnati mayor and Hamilton County Board of Commissioners would appoint one member each.
Kenton County's judge-executive now appoints the seven voting members of the board.
