LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A new luxury crossover vehicle will be built at Ford's Louisville Assembly Plant.

Ford has announced the automaker created 300 jobs for the Lincoln MKC production line following a $129 million upgrade of the Louisville Assembly Plant.

Sykes said the retooling of the Fern Valley Road plant to accommodate production of the smaller-sized luxury SUV is complete, and all the new jobs have been filled.

"This means we're the sole producer of the Escape and the sole producer of the all-new MKC, and that's a big deal for us," said Sykes.

Ford executives and local officials celebrated the launch of the Lincoln MKC during an event at the plant on Aug. 25.

The Louisville Assembly Plant has been the home of the Ford Escape since 2012.
