Police: Beer thief tells clerk to call 911

LEXINGTON, KY (WAVE) - A suspected shoplifter told a Lexington convenience store clerk to call 911 as he left with a case of stolen beer Sunday morning, according to police.

WLEX-TV in Lexington reported that Eric Edwards, 33, walked into a Shell station around 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 24 and asked the clerk what time he could purchase beer. According to the police report, the clerk told Edwards he had to wait until 11 a.m., so Edwards picked up a 24-pack of Keystone, told the clerk to call 911 and walked out the door without paying.
