The Bengals announced Tuesday that they released wide receiver Jasper Collins, tight end Kevin Brock, quarterback Matt Scott and linebacker James Davidson.

In addition, the Bengals placed former Bearcats linebacker J.K. Schaffer and cornerback Lavelle Westbrooks on the waived/injured category.

If Schaffer and/or Westbrooks clear waivers tomorrow, they will revert to the Bengals' reserve/injured list.

The team need to trim the roster to 53 this weekend.

Also, Pro Bowl linebacker Vontaze Burfict is still commenting on rumors of a possible contract extension. Burfict told the media ‘no comment' when asked if his deal is progressing or finished.

Burfict did say he will be ready to play week one despite leaving Sunday's game in Arizona with a hamstring injury.

The Bengals finish the preseason Thursday night with a home game against the Colts.
