Bellarmine adds 6'10" Kolo to front line

Kolo transfers into Knights basketball program

8/27/2014 | Men's Basketball

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-Bellarmine University Head Basketball Coach Scott Davenport announced today that junior Yasin Kolo will transfer into the Knights' program. Kolo is a 6-10, 245-lb center who played previously at the University of Hartford and East Carolina University.

A native of Goettingen, Germany, Kolo graduated from Fayetteville (N.C.) Christian High School and was a member of the North Carolina 2A All-State team after averaging 21.8 points and 10 rebounds a game his senior season. Local fans may remember Kolo from an appearance last year when he scored 12 points and pulled down eight boards for the Hartford Hawks in a Nov. 19, 2013 game against the University of Louisville at the YUM! Center.

"Yasin is a great addition to our basketball program," said Davenport. "He has a wealth of Division 1 and international experience. He is an outstanding young man who has demonstrated to our staff time and time again how badly he wants to be a Bellarmine Knight. Our staff showed great patience in the pursuit of Yasin and our entire program benefitted from their hard work. He is a quality big man who really knows how to utilize his abilities at both ends of the floor. We had previously recruited Yasin and we watched him play last year with great interest. We were very excited with how he performed against Louisville obviously one of the top programs in all of basketball."

Kolo is anxious to start his Bellarmine career. "When I came on my visit (to Bellarmine) I just loved it here from the get-go," Kolo said. "There's a great atmosphere in the locker room and on the court, and I really look forward to being a part of the Bellarmine program."
